Magic Cutter – the quick way to get your audio done right

There’s lots of Audio Tools for Mac and even Apple makes some excellent software. But when you just need a tool for a quick fix, Garage Band or other apps become overkill.

Introducing “Magic Cutter” for Mac OS X. The application can be downloaded from the Developer’s website or purchased from the Mac App Store ($9.99)

The app supports both MP3 and AAC files and can help you cut audio automatically or manually. You can set it to cut by silence between tracks, duration or file size. And it doesn’t have to be a song. Let’s say you have an Audiobook and you wanna split it into smaller files, by chapter just before you add it to your iPhone. Of course you can listen to it and see where each chapter ends. But that would defeat the purpose of having it ready for you to listen it properly. Magic Cutter can cut it automatically just by detecting the silence between chapters.

Magic Cutter draws a waveform for your tracks so you can have a good representation of them and cut them right away. But there are other ways you can use the app – creating Ringtones by cropping and fading the songs gets so much fun.

I had used sometime ago the Audacity on a project involved in voice confirmation messages sent over phoneline by an alarm control panel. It seams this application would be a great opportunity for me to get hands-on re-vival of that project and maybe later use it for more than that. I am quite new on Mac, but I am looking forward on getting more experience. I started with offering my wife an iPad2 as birthday present, and now the one that is happier with the new toy is my 21 years old daughter.
